Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s son Miles has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.

The model and entrepreneur, 38, shared the news in a heartfelt Instagram post on Wednesday.

“Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” Teigen continued. “You noticed his type-1 diabetes monitor and extended so much love and encouragement in every way possible.”

The “Cravings” cookbook author admitted that she and Legend, 45, were “learning so much on the fly.”

“A different, new world for us,” she wrote, adding that they gave Miles, 6, his first shot the night before.

In the comments section, Teigen revealed that Nick Jonas, who also has type 1 diabetes, was “so kind” to her son when the family ran into the pop star at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that causes the pancreas to not make enough insulin for the body. Insulin is a hormone the body uses to allow sugar (glucose) to enter cells and produce energy, per the Mayo Clinic.

There is no cure for type 1 diabetes, but it can be managed with insulin shots, diet and careful monitoring.

Teigen acknowledged that she knows “things could be so much worse.”

“So many parents around the world are going through unfathomable things that I could never imagine,” she said. “I tell myself this every time we get a red alert blast to our phones.”

Teigen explained that they discovered Miles’ diabetes a couple weeks ago when he was sick in the hospital with “a terrible case of shigella, an intestinal infection caused by bacteria in food or water.”

She and Legend — who also have two other kids, daughter Esti, 1, and son Wren, 1 — initially weren’t concerned because many of Miles’ friends from camp were also ill with an infection, but doctors soon noticed something was off with the youngster’s bloodwork.

After further testing, Miles was given the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.

The “Lip Sync Battle” alum also shared a page from the children’s book, “Year One with Type One,” revealing that reading the book to Miles has made her emotional, especially a page in which the parents tell their child they “wish there was more we could do.”

Teigen concluded that her message was to thank the fans who had written in words of support.

“It helps miles so much to know so many people are going through the same thing and he is not alone.”
