Christmas: Philanthropist brings joy to the hearts of the underprivileged at Kumawu
A philanthropist has brought joy to the hearts of widows, the aged and people living with disabilities in Kumawu, Ashanti Region, as he distributed rice, cooking oil, and mackerel to over 600 individuals to mark this year’s Christmas.
The Christmas donation programme, held in Kumawu, witnessed the gracious presence of local chiefs, religious leaders, and classmates, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity and shared celebration. The initiative is aimed at supporting the underprivileged members of the community who might struggle to afford festive essentials.
Eddie Kusi Ankomah, the Chief Executive Officer of Erata Group of Companies, emphasised that Christmas embodies joy, love, and generosity, and individuals like him should extend the festive joy to those facing difficulties in celebrating.
Mr Ankomah said the Erata Group’s gesture aims to ensure that everyone in his hometown can partake in the Christmas spirit.
“They need to find work that not only sustains them but allows them to contribute meaningfully to society. Let’s empower them to be productive and self-sufficient,” he said.
Mr Ankomah emphasised that Erata Group’s donation is not a one-time event but a commitment to an annual tradition. The company aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who may need assistance during the festive season, he added.
The festive spirit continued with bible quiz competitions among the widows, representing various churches. The winners received valuable prizes, reinforcing the community’s sense of togetherness.
Gladys Serwah expressed gratitude for the unexpected blessing. She said winning the quiz and receiving a Nasco Table Top Fridge feels like a miracle for her.
“Thank you, Mr Ankomah, and Erata Group, for making our Christmas unforgettable,” she indicated.
Another winner of 32 HDTV, Philomina Kuma said it is more than just a TV; it’s a symbol of joy and victory for her. “Thanks to Erata Group for recognising our efforts and encouraging friendly competition among us.”
Beneficiaries and other winners appreciated the thoughtful gifts from Mr Ankomah and his team.
Mr Ankomah’s philanthropic act not only brought smiles to the faces of the recipients but also strengthened community bonding.
As Erata Group continues its tradition of giving back, the hope is that such acts of kindness will inspire others to spread joy and make a positive impact in their communities.
