Former Ghana Black Stars coach CK Akonnor is optimistic about Dreams FC’s chances in the CAF Confederations Cup tournament, backing the team’s potential for glory.

Dreams FC, representing Ghana in the CAF inter-club competition, has attracted attention with their recent performance, notably securing a 2-1 win against Stade Malien in the quarterfinals’ first leg in Bamako.

Their upcoming match against the Malian side at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday holds promise for further success, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT.

Expressing his faith in the team, Akonnor, who previously coached the side, praised the bold and confident style displayed by Karim Zito’s squad.

“Dreams FC is making Ghana proud. Their fearless and confident play is commendable,” he remarked on Akoma FM.

“I believe they can win the competition with their current momentum. We should all support them. The players deserve praise for their unity and resilience, and we should rally behind them to reach the finals and potentially claim the championship.”

Highlighting the players’ cohesion and understanding on the field, Akonnor stressed the significance of unity in their quest for success.

“The players have shown great composure and understanding, which is crucial. They have exceeded expectations,” he added.

Dreams FC’s journey to the finals will see them face the winner between Zamalek and Modern Future, presenting another chance for the Ghanaian side to shine on the continental stage.
