Petkovic brought the world’s number-one-ranked tennis player into the conversation by stating how she is amazing on the clay. On the other hand, while talking about Wimbledon, she highlighted how Rybakina and Sabalenka can give tough competition to each other. Along with that, she shared her vision of witnessing the two-time Australian Open champion winning the US Open title.
However, amid all this, Petkovic left the 19-year-old US Open champion out of the discussion and didn’t consider her as one of the tough competitors to fight for the major titles. However, this is not the first time someone has left the third-ranked tennis player out of such important WTA discussions. A few months ago, the Polish tennis player left Gauff out while dropping the names of the top 3 WTA players.

When Iga Swiatek snubbed Gauff from the list of possible top three players After the tense phase of the WTA Finals in Cancun, the world’s number one-ranked tennis player, in a candid interview, revealed her choice for the top three WTA players of the year. She stated, “The women’s tennis has been at a consistent level for the last couple of seasons. Me, Aryna and Elena, I feel, are standing out and playing consistently but there are others who are also just trying to get better. However, for me there is no difference.”Â
Although she included Sabalenka and Rybakina, she left out the American teenage sensation’s US Open victory from the discussion. While there was no mention of her in Swiatek’s statement, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Gauff is not considered as a tough contender by the four-time Grand Slam title winner.
