Colin Cowherd reveals reason behind Nico Iamaleava’s UCLA transfer decision, shades Vols offense
The Nico Iamaleava saga is finally over, following the latest development in what has become one of the most talked-about stories in all of college sports. Iamaleava made headlines as the first college player to skip practice after not receiving the money he expected.
For the past week, it’s been known that Iamaleava would enter the spring transfer portal, but the big question was which school would be willing to take him, especially after he quickly became a controversial figure.
Iamaleava entered the portal with a do not contact tag, which made it fairly obvious from the start where he was headed. The only uncertainty was when the move would become official—now, it seems it has. Iamaleava is officially a UCLA Bruin, returning to his home state to play for a California-based team.
“I am told — moments ago — Nico Iamaleava is going to UCLA. Family still claims it’s NOT about the money, It’s about the Vol Football offense. I was not told what the Bruins are paying,” Colin Cowherd posted.
For Iamaleava to put the blame on the offense is crazy considering he is playing for one of the best offensive minded coaches. The Vols WR room is deep this season, even though it is a young group.
This move speaks volumes about how desperate UCLA is for a quarterback—not necessarily because of Iamaleava’s situation, but due to his younger brother’s shocking decommitment from the program back in December.

A representative spoke on Iamaleava’s behalf Wednesday, which may have played a role in UCLA’s decision to move forward with bringing him in as their next quarterback.
“Nico’s not asking for no money. He don’t even have those money conversations,” FOS wrote. “His representation hasn’t steered him wrong. At the end of the day, what did we do wrong to steer him and put him in a bad situation? We didn’t.”
Iamaleava now gets a fresh start, and in the process, he’ll be looking to quiet some of the backlash he’s received throughout this entire ordeal.
