Colin Jost Shares Toe Injuries From Covering Olympics Surfing
Colin Jostās stint as a sports reporter for the 2024 Olympics isnāt going quite as planned.
The Saturday Night Live writer and star was tapped by NBC to cover the surfing portion of the Olympics in Teahupoāo, Tahiti āĀ nearly 10,000 miles away from the main location for this yearās games in Paris. Working in paradise has its downsides, though. On Friday, the comedian shared a photo on Instagram of his bloodied foot. āThis might ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the reef was excited to greet me,ā he joked in the caption.
On Monday, he shared an update on his injuries with a snap of his toes individually bandaged. He quipped in the caption, āYou know itās going great when youāve been to the Olympic medical tent more than any of the athletes.ā
Speaking on air with Mike Tirico (who was covering the games in Paris) on Sunday, the actor revealed that he got wounded while surfing. āI think I did pretty well until the first wave and then I ended up standing on the coral reef,ā he said. Since he wasnāt wearing coral-safe shoes, he āgot a little scraped up.ā This mishap, however, didnāt stop Jost from continuing his bit of covering the surfing competitions while barefoot on the shore.
Jostās surfing experience was captured in an Olympics clip, where he was shown hitting the waves with Team USA surfers Carissa Moore and John John Florence. āThereās no way to sugarcoat it: I was better than them,ā said Jost, as footage showed him face-planting into the water. When Jost asked what Olympic score he would get for riding the same waves as the Olympians, Moore replied, āI think he gets extra points for commitment.ā
