Seven of the top eight teams in college baseball will host a super regional with a chance to advance to the College World Series on the line.

The top-seeded Tennessee Volunteers have the easiest path to Omaha on paper against the Evansville Purple Aces.

Evansville miraculously got into the NCAA baseball tournament with a title at the Missouri Valley Conference tournament and then upset the 16th-seeded East Carolina Pirates to reach the super regional round.

Six other super regional hosts take on unseeded teams during super regional weekend.

The Kansas State Wildcats had the most stunning regional win, outside of Evansville, as they won at the home of the No. 5 seed Arkansas Razorbacks.

Hosting the super regional round typically equates to a trip to Omaha. A year ago, six of the eight super regional hosts moved on to the CWS.

Super Regional Matchups

Evansville vs. No. 1 Tennessee

UConn vs. No. 8 Florida State

Kansas State vs. No. 12 Virginia

West Virginia vs. No. 4 North Carolina

No. 15 Oregon State vs. No. 2 Kentucky

No. 10 NC State vs. No. 7 Georgia

Florida vs. No. 6 Clemson

Oregon vs. No. 3 Texas A&M

All games will be live-streamed on ESPN+.

The most stunning super regional matchup involves the No. 1 overall seed.

Tennessee did not expect to see Evansville anywhere close to Knoxville in the NCAA tournament, but the Purple Aces’ string of upsets in Greenville made the David-versus-Goliath matchup happen.

The Vols are expected to roll because of their superior talent level, but Evansville will be playing with nothing to lose, and that could be a dangerous mindset to go up against.

A few other unseeded teams could be more dangerous over the weekend, starting with the pair of Big 12 teams headed to ACC country.

The Kansas State Wildcats have one of the most underrated players left in the tournament in shortstop Kaelen Culpepper. He hit for the cycle as part of his regional MVP run in Fayetteville.

The West Virginia Mountaineers have a top-10 draft pick in J.J, Weatherholt in the middle of their lineup. They are also trying to get to the CWS in head coach Randy Mazey’s final season.

However, the Virginia Cavaliers and North Carolina Tar Heels will be tough foes for both Big 12 squads.

North Carolina came away from regional weekend as the most battle-tested national seed. The Tar Heels endured three battles with the reigning national champion LSU Tigers.

There is a chance UNC, Virginia and Tennessee lead a SEC-versus-ACC trip to Omaha. All eight of the super regional hosts come from the two best conferences in college baseball.

Predictions
