Conor Benn saw controversial callout of Amir Khan fall flat after reality check response from British star

Despite just eight years deep into his young boxing career, emerging star Conor Benn saw a huge pairing with Amir Khan fall flat on its face at the first hurdle.

Already sharing the ring with some notable talent, Conor Benn, the son of former world champion puncher Nigel Benn, enjoyed an impressive run as WBA continental champion before his failed fight with bitter rival Chris Eubank Jr.

Taking out former WBO junior welterweight Chris Algieri early in his career, as well as South African veteran Chris van Heerden, Benn had a sizable fight on his mind prior to that, but he failed to ever land.

Issuing a callout to former world champion and Olympic star Amir Khan, Benn saw the offer fall flat on his face with the Bolton star offering Benn a damning opinion on his young career.

And following a dominant first-round knockout win over common foe Samuel Vargas — who took Khan the 12-round distance in their clash, Benn issued a damning callout to the Bolton hero.

ā€œGive me a proper test, give me Amir Khan. He’s too busy messing about withĀ reality shows,ā€ Benn said during his post-fight interview in 2021.

However, receiving a rather stark reply from Khan, the former world champion pointed to his prestige in the ring during his prime, reminding Benn how, at the same age, he had already captured his WBA light welterweight crown.

Conor well done. Great kid, wish him the best.
At his age I was a world champ.
Maybe if he had some belts that fight would make sense but he’s got a long way to go yet šŸ‘ŠšŸ½ šŸ˜

Conor Benn mocked by ex-foe after drug test fiascoSeeing a planned return to the ring against the above-mentioned Eubank Jr. canceled at the last-minute following a drug testing scandal, Benn’s history was called into question.

Stopping the previously noted van Heerden with a blistering second-round knockout to defend his WBA continental welterweight title, Benn was hit with a rather humorous response from the veteran after the WBC accepted an explanation for his positive drug test result.
