Conor McGregor Jr. Makes Father Shed Bad Guy Persona on Camera – “Seeing Who I Was Before…the World Changed Me”

Conor McGregor‘s son, Conor Jr., was born in 2017. And the birth of Junior, who is his first child, had a profound impact on him. In a recent interview with James Corden, ‘Mac’ spoke about how watching his son be born and grow up “softened” him and made him a better person.

“You know when you’re grown up and the things that have happened to you in your life harden you or trauma happens to you… When my son, Conor Jr. was born into this world and as I saw him grow up, you know, he’s still very young,” he said.

“I just see myself in him unfiltered, without the hardness of the reality of the world or the things I went through. And it just softens me. And I almost look at him and I say ‘that’s who I am’. Seeing who I was before I feel the world changed me,” an emotional McGregor added.

Some analysts, such as legendary MMA referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy have previously pointed out that McGregor’s career started declining after the birth of his son. Speaking from personal experience, McCarthy pointed out that having children “changes who you are,” and felt that ‘Notorious’ was “a different person” since the birth of Conor Jr. While McGregor may have softened up after the birth of his first child, he went hard in his big screen debut.

While this, combined with his long absence and recent injury has led to speculations that the Irishman may retire from the sport altogether and pursue greener pastures in Hollywood or even a possible political run, McGregor has confirmed he is keen to continue fighting.

For two more fights, at least. In a recent interview, McGregor revealed that he had two more fights left on his UFC contract. On being asked what his plans were after that, the bombastic Dubliner expressed uncertainty “then what happens, I don’t know,” he told Adam Catterall. And McGregor is going to cross out at least one of those fights in the near future as he sets up to face Michael Chandler this summer.
