Courtney Paige Nelson Releases New Single “CYANIDE JAWBREAKER”

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Courtney Paige Nelson releases her new single, “CYANIDE JAWBREAKER,” providing listeners with a foretaste of her upcoming EP, I GUESS YOU COULD SAY IM A LITTLE ANGRY, slated to drop this Fall.

Talking about the song, Nelson shares, “This song is something that tells a story of the moment when a relationship of mine changed. There was a person who came in between something really special I had grown with, someone who I thought was my person. It caused ALOT of hurt and pain. So being an artist I wrote a song about it. The words ‘Cyanide Jawbreaker’ is something I wrote down after I woke up suddenly in the middle of the night. I had a session coming up and we took what I wrote down, and I wrote an entire song around it. Cyanide is poison, and jawbreakers take forever to dissolve which was the perfect concept to relate to when the pain in a relationship is slowly eating away at you. It’s never easy to be second best, compared, or made to feel like you’ll never add up and I really wanted to express that in this song.”

A survivor of child abuse, Nelson beat the odds in life, becoming the writer and artist she is simply by being an open book, revealing her struggles through her lyrics. Her frankness allowed her to create a platform for her true calling in life, music and songwriting.

In 2022 Moore Kismet released their debut album UNIVERSE, spotlighting the song “See You Go” which Courtney wrote and was featured on. gaining 30+ editorial playlists, including New Music Friday in 12 countries, trending on Sirius XM radio, and holding the top 50 on Beatport for over a month. She performed “See You Go” live at HARD Fest in Los Angeles with Moore Kismet for 10,000 people.

Last year, Billboard Argentina interviewed her about her track “COLD LIKE GEMINI.”  Since then, she has had multiple sync placements, along with a Drum & Bass track with DJ Georgie Riot on Riot Records.

Edgy, dark, and rumbling, “CYANIDE JAWBREAKER” rides a heavy, thumping kick drum as smoldering harmonic layers flow overhead. Nelson’s vocals, full of delicious, shadowy nuances, suffuse the lyrics with moody tones, expressing her aching emotional damage.

The rise of Courtney Paige Nelson comes as no surprise. Her emotional authenticity and haunting voice are refreshing and irresistible.
