Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer won’t attend the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

According to Archer, the two will remain in Dallas to continue to put together the staff and make changes to the scheme. With the demands in Dallas, McCarthy said it makes more sense for them not to attend the Scouting Combine.

McCarthy and Zimmer will still meet with players for interviews digitally and view tape of the workouts to keep them informed on draft prospects.

McCarthy also did not attend last year’s combine as he was making changes to the offensive scheme ahead of his first season as the playcaller. He briefly attended the event, which was in Indianapolis, to meet with the media, but flew back to work with the offensive coaches.

The Scouting Combine, again in Indianapolis this year, will take place from Feb. 26 to March 4.

The Cowboys are coming off a third-straight 12-5 season that saw them lead the league in scoring at 29.9 points per game. While Dallas had a successful regular season, it was marred by an early exit in the playoffs at the hands of the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round.

The Cowboys have a new look heading into the 2024 season and are looking to finally get over the hump. Zimmer, who coached the Minnesota Vikings from 2014 to 2021, came on the staff as the defensive coordinator earlier this month. The Cowboys also have a new offensive coordinator in Steve Shimko.

Now, McCarthy will look to get his team ready and trust his staff at next week’s Scouting Combine.
