Cowboys vs Lions recap: Social media reaction to major loss at home. 47-9

Some people had this as the revenge game from last year’s conclusion between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. Some people had this as an unwinnable game for Dallas. Either way, on the day the Cowboys struggled majorly on defense and became too predictable on offense. Here’s what did social media have to say about today’s monumental defeat.

A quick line shuffle before the game.

Very notable news —

While Tyler Guyton is active for today’s game, the Dallas Cowboys will be starting Tyler Smith at left tackle and T.J. Bass at left guard, per @KristiCowboy.#DallasCowboys

The Dallas Cowboys win the coin toss, offense hits the field and ends in a field goal down inside the redzone.

First drive of the day ends with a Brandon Aubrey field goal. Run game picked up a whopping 3 yards on that first drive. Sometimes you need a little luck and that deflected pass was part of that. It’s 3-0, Dallas.

With Eric Kendricks out, Damone Clark got more play time.

Damone Clark is the MLB for Eric Kendricks.

The Detroit Lions came back to score. Dominating at the point of attack.

Montgomery just bullied his way into the end zone for that TD. That drive was fueled by the 42-yard throw from Goff vs. Amani.

7-3, Lions lead #Cowboys

Jalen Tolbert showing his strong hands on the play.

Feelings of pessimism set in early.

This is going to be a long day for the Cowboys if the offense doesn’t score touchdowns and the defense continues to struggle to with tackling.

Reminder-
Cowboys defense is playing without:
-Micah
-Tank
-Bland
-Carson
-Kendricks

Backups on all 3 levels of the defense.

The offense is going to need to score. A LOT.

Dak throws the pick in the endzone.

A trick play in the backfield with YAC motion and Sam LaPorta scores.

As the Dallas offense gets one dimensional, Detroit pile on the pressure.

An elite important stop came with a huge sack.

3rd down sack!! Great blitz by Clark & Golston follows him home

Cowboys go for it on fourth Down and get a no call on KaVontae Turpin on a DPI call.

Again it doesn’t matter

But how is that not DPI?

— Tom Downey (@WhatGoingDowney) October 13, 2024

Going for it on fourth down in that situation is very telling.

Says to the world: “we don’t trust our defense” and maybe more. Not a great look on 4th and 2.

By halftime it looked bleak.

This game so outta hand they showing family photos in the first half.

Plenty of blame to go around.

Cowboys is not a balanced team

Its not a Dak thing

Sorry to break it to you you casuals

Detroit come out to start the second half and score easily.

Detroit Lions possessions against the Dallas Cowboys, excluding their kneel down to end the first half:
– Touchdown
– Field Goal

It was tough to watch this defense.

Trevon Diggs is the best player left on defense and even he is getting torched

— Clarence Hill Jr (@clarencehilljr) October 13, 2024

Aidan Hutchinson was having a day until a major injury. The replay was nasty and we wish him a full recovery.

Dallas offense gets back to it. The offensive line really struggled.

Another FG for Dallas makes it 34-9 Lions

Ryan Flournoy gets a target, makes the catch, then fumbles the ball.

Everyone blames Dan Quinn after a bad game in the playoffs.

This year, the Commanders fly up the NFC East and Dallas look worse at home since his departure. Everyone happy to agree we were blaming the wrong guy?#DallasCowboys

Dak throws an interception, Lions offense scores again.

Dak was literally throwing blind on that pick because the owner is too stubborn to cede to the sun

— David Howman (@_DH44_) October 13, 2024

Late in the fourth quarter, Cooper Rush throws an interception in the endzone. When it rains, it pours.

Cooper Rush INT in the endzone. Kerby Joseph grabs this one.

Cowboys have 3 INTs and 2 in the end zone.

Cowboys lose in a big way once again.

From ESPN Research: The Cowboys have allowed 167 points in their last 4 home games, including regular season and playoffs. That is the 3rd-most over a 4-game span at home in NFL history.
