Curaçao Gaming Authority: regulatory updates and commitment to integrity
The Gaming Control Board (GCB) has recently unveiled its regulatory updates and commitment to integrity. The Control Board was founded on 19 April 1999 to oversee all gaming activities operating in and from Curaçao.
Following the implementation of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK) on 24 December 2024, the GCB officially became the Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) and continues to operate under this new name.
The CGA is governed by a Board of Directors and supervised by a Supervisory Board. Previously, the organization operated under the political-administrative responsibility of the Minister of Finance. However, as of 19 August 2025, this responsibility has been transferred to the Minister of Justice, a change formally announced by the government on 13 October 2025.
As part of its commitment to transparency, the CGA has confirmed that the Supervisory Board resigned in mid-September. The government has already initiated the process of appointing new members. This transition will not affect the CGA’s ability to perform its regulatory duties. All licensing and supervisory operations, including the continued implementation of the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (LOK), are proceeding without interruption.
The Curaçao Gaming Authority remains fully dedicated to upholding the integrity, reliability, and proper regulation of the gaming sector in Curaçao.
