Curry hits stunning 3-pointer in Warriors victory, 76ers end four-match losing streak

Steph Curry’s stunning 3-pointer from 33 yards earned the Golden State Warriors a 113-112 win over the Phoenix Suns.

Curry’s exploits helped the Warriors seal a fourth consecutive victory, as he latched onto Brandin Podziemski’s pass and produced a moment of magic to seal a tense game.

This was Curry’s 10th career-winning shot with less than five seconds on the clock, as he managed nine 3-pointers during the match and ended with 30 points.

The Warriors held an 84-82 lead heading into the fourth quarter, before Devin Booker turned the game on its head by giving the Suns a 112-110 advantage thanks to a turnaround jumper.

Aside from Curry’s exploits, Jonathan Kuminga scored a further 21 points, while Draymond Green added 15 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Booker registered 32 points for Phoenix and Kevin Durant notched 24, in a case of what might have been for the Arizona outfit.

They had two chances to win the match after Curry’s 3-pointer, but Booker was fouled under the basket in the first instance, while Durant failed to get a shot in at the second attempt.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr explained that his side “were due” a bit of fortunate against the Suns after a series of tight matches against them in recent weeks.

“We were due,” he added. “We were due for one of these tight games to go our way. But the guys earned it. It didn’t just happen.”

Kerr’s counterpart Frank Vogel was left to rue Curry’s moment of magic that sealed an otherwise cagey contest.

“We just weren’t at our best,” he explained. “We played a pretty good basketball game, played well enough to beat these guys. One play in the final two seconds swings the outcome.”

The Suns will be hoping to bounce back against the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, while the Warriors are in action away at Utah Jazz on Monday.

76ers end four-match losing streak

The Philadelphia 76ers ended a four-match losing streak with a 119-113 win over the Washington Wizards.

Tyrese Maxey and Buddy Hield led the way with 28 and 23 points respectively, while Rookie Ricky Council IV took 19 points and 10 rebounds on a superb night for the Pennsylvania side.

Maxey waxed lyrical in his praise of Council’s display after his first outing that consisted of more than 12 minutes court time.

“He was big time,” said Maxey in quotes published by AP of team-mate Council. “He balled. Defensively, offensively, energy-wise. He got some big buckets down the stretch. I’m proud of him.”

Deni Avdija and Kyle Kuzma were among the top scorers for the Wizards after scoring 21 points each, but the hosts never managed to lead after the first quarter.

The 76ers are back in action away at the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, while the Wizards travel to the Dallas Mavericks on the same day.

Pacers overcome Knicks

The Indiana Pacers claimed a 125-111 victory over the New York Knicks, with Myles Turner and Tyrese Haliburton both playing starring roles.

Turner took 23 points, while Haliburton added 22 on a memorable night for the Pacers, while Pascal Siakam and T.J. McConnell claimed a further 19 and 16 respectively for Indiana.

It was a disappointing night for the Knicks, despite Jalen Brunson taking a hugely impressive 39 points on his return from an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, Precious Achiuwa and Donte DiVincenzo took 15 and 14 points for the New York outfit.

This result condemns the Knicks to a third defeat in their last four games after previously winning nine in a row.

“It was an all-around team win and we asserted ourselves more when it needed to be done.”

The Pacers will be hoping to build on their momentum away at the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, while the Knicks are in action against the Houston Rockets on the same day.
