Dana White labelled iconic UFC event the ‘best night’ of his career and bowed down to the fighters

On this day in 2010, one of the biggest UFC events of all time took place in Las Vegas.

Before Conor McGregor came along and smashed UFC records to feature in the majority of the promotion’s best-performing pay-per-view events, the promotion had a different top draw.

At UFC 100, Brock Lesnar avenged his one career defeat to Frank Mir and helped the promotion to set a new record for PPV buys.

The former WWE star was already a must-see competitor whenever he stepped inside the Octagon but this only increased after he became the UFC heavyweight champion.

While there have been many incredible events since then, Dana White stated at the time that Lesnar’s first defense of the title in an iconic clash capped off the best night of his career.

Along with Gerald Harris earning an additional $75,000 for his knockout of the night over David Branch, two fight of the night bonuses were given out to Krzysztof Soszynski vs Stephan Bonnar and Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Chris Leben.

White started his post-fight press conference by taking a moment to thank all of the competitors, recognizing what a remarkable event UFC 116 was before going on to tell MMA Fighting that it was the ‘best night’ of his career.

“Alright, what a night… All I have to say before we kick this thing off is holy s—. Seriously one of the best nights ever in my entire UFC career. “I want to thank and applaud all the guys who fought on this card tonight and I bow down to what happened here at the MGM Grand tonight, thank you guys all very much.”
