Dana White tells undefeated prospect he’d get ‘absolutely decimated’ in the UFC and doesn’t give him a contract despite DWCS win

Dana White’s Contender Series returned for week 2 of season 8 this past Tuesday and there were a few familiar faces competing on the event, one of which was undefeated prospect Torrez Finney.

Torez Finney who was 8-0 heading into his second fight on Dana White’s Contender Series was looking to pick up an impressive win over Israel Adesanya‘s City Kickboxing teammate, Cam Rowston, and earn a contract this time round.

White implored the 25-year-old to go back to the regional scene and pick up several more wins before giving him another opportunity.

Following White’s recommendation, he returned to the regional scene earlier this year and picked up a first-round knockout win over Tyson Jeffries, who has a professional record of 15-12.

Despite picking up the unanimous decision victory over Rowston this past Tuesday, Finney didn’t do so in impressive fashion and spent the majority of the fight just passively controlling the Australian on the ground.

Following the win, the Chattanoogan was awarded his brown belt in jiu-jitsu, which he was of course over the moon with.

“Dana, I’m gonna tell you this man, I’ve come on this show twice, fought my heart out, fought an undefeated prospect last year, a Russian fought a guy from a great gym here Cam Rowston, there’s one thing about me, I’m gonna come into this cage every single time give everything I got,” Finney pleaded following his fight.

“Man, I got the heart of David, the strength of Sampson, and a face that’s bigger than the size of a mustard seed, and guess what, not only do I move mountains, I know them down.

“I am the punisher, I am Torrez Finney, and Dana there’s one thing, please, if you can smell what Torrez is cooking!” he finished.

APOLOGY: Dana White takes ‘full responsibility’ for erasing Francis Ngannou’s name from UFC 305 promotion videos as he issues apologyDana White blasts Torrez Finney and claims he’d get decimated in the UFC and doesn’t give him a contractDespite the win and the proceeding pitch to White, the UFC CEO blasted the 25-year-old during the part of the show where he handed out his UFC contracts.

“Finney, now you were here last year and my recommendation to you was to go out and get some experience, you’re young, you’re obviously talented, you’re now 9-0, you got one fight, you went out in one year and fought one fight,” White began to explain at the end of the show.

“You know, I’m always brutally honest with this stuff, you’d get absolutely decimated in the UFC with the performance that you put on tonight. Your performance last year was better than this performance. You’re 25 years old, kid, you’re obviously a talented athlete go out and get three or four fights this year, then come back to us and talk about the UFC,” White brutally admitted.

Dana White kept it BRUTALLY honest with Torrez Finney 😬

“You get absolutely decimated in the UFC… you gassed out tonight. You had a tough time getting through 3 rounds.

You’re not ready for the UFC.”#UFC #MMA #DWCSpic.twitter.com/9uIrVgRjOx
