Darren Till shares words of wisdom from Nick Diaz after good friend suffers $1million PFL defeat

Darren Till was quick to offer some kind words to Brendan Loughnane after his latest loss.

The former featherweight titleholder fell short in his bid to win a second $1milion championship as he suffered a bloody beating at the hands of 18-0 Dagestani fighter Timur Khizriev in the main event of PFLā€™s penultimate show of the year in Saudi Arabia on Friday night.

Soon after Brendan Loughnaneā€˜s unanimous decision defeat was confirmed, his friend and former training partner, Darren Till, took to social media to reveal he had tried to lift his spirits with a quote from MMA legend Nick Diaz.

ā€˜The Gorillaā€™ bumped into Diaz after his final UFC loss against Dricus du Plessis in December 2022.

Tom Aspinall reacts to Tommy Fury vs Darren TillSince being released by the UFC last year, Darren Till has been training for big boxing fights.

In July, his boxing debut ended in a farcical second-round TKO win and a post-fight brawl.

Now heā€™s been booked to fight the only man to beat Jake Paul, Tommy Fury, on January 18.

Tom Aspinall is better placed than most to predict the crossover bout after training with both men through the years.

The interim UFC heavyweight champion admits heā€™s got no clue how it will go, but heā€™ll be sitting in the front row when the fight goes down in Manchester, England, early next year.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he said: ā€œAs far as predictions and stuff, itā€™s kind of difficult for me to say because Iā€™ve known Tommy for a long, long time, but Iā€™ve not actually trained with him since he was about 18. So, Iā€™ve not sparred with him or anything like that for a long time.

ā€œAlso, Till, I used to spar him in MMA, and boxing is a different sport. Itā€™s hard. From a personal point of view, I donā€™t really know how they match up in the sport of boxing. Till actually has really, really good hands.

ā€œI think itā€™s a good fight either way. Iā€™m gonna be there. I will be there. Itā€™s at the Co-Op live [Arena] as well. I love the Co-Op Live, so Iā€™ll be there supporting. It will be a fun event.ā€
