David Beckham has CBS Sports studio in stitches as he makes Gary Neville dig when announcing new football show

David Beckham is making a new football show, but it looks like his former teammate Gary Neville isn’t high-profile enough for it.

The Manchester United legend and former England captain joined the CBS Sports team on Tuesday night for the opening night of this season’s Champions League action where he made the announcement.

Explaining the premise of the upcoming show, Beckham said: “I think each time will be a different personality and a person, a friend of mine.

“But, you know, like you guys, I love watching the game and I like watching the game in a certain way. And most of the time it is either with my kids or my friends.

As one of the most famous athletes ever, Golden Balls will have a stacked contacts list – so presenter Kate Abdo was keen to find out who would be appearing on the show.

Asked if guests have to be football experts, Beckham responded: “No, not at all.”

Pundits Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards then asked what makes an A-Lister in Beckham’s world, to which the former Real Madrid star replied: “The bar’s quite high.”

Carragher immediately followed up with whether Neville would be considered big enough for Beckham and Friends, and Beckham brutally responded: “No!”

The response was met with fits of laughter among Carragher, Richards, Abdo and pundit Thierry Henry.

Beckham and Neville played alongside each other for 11 years both at Man United and England.

Neville was the best man at Beckham’s wedding to wife Victoria in 1999.

But clearly, the friendship doesn’t stretch as far as being on the telly together.
