Defeat a Boss Fortnite Guide – 2 Bosses Are Simple Kills

One of the quests popping up for the current event is the defeat a boss Fortnite quest! There’s a simpler solution than going for a Medallion game though.

Fortnite has had NPCs on the map since Chapter 2, and often quests push players to engage with these NPCs. Sometimes that’s through hiring them, and other quests tell you to take one out! That’s the type that’s here with the recent Defeat a Boss Fortnite quest.

Everyone’s probably aware of a handful of bosses roaming the map. They’re the same skins as the characters in the Chapter 5 Season 3 Battle Pass. However, these can be a bit of a pain to take out. There are actually other bosses on the map who can be defeated much more easily.

If you’re looking to finish the Defeat a Boss Fortnite quest as quickly as possible, this is the best method to get it done.

High Card – The Fastest Way to Defeat a Boss in Fortnite

The Fortnite map has quite a few bosses. Some drop medallions, others drop key cards. It’s this secondary type which is much easier to take out. They’re not as useful for your match, but much easier to kill.

Land at the spot to take out an actual boss, and you’ve got goons to deal with, enemy players competing for the loot, and typically a boss with slightly better AI that can do stuff like throw-up auto-firing turrets. Plus, the many campers sat around crouched waiting to jump in once you’ve finished it off.

High Card on the other hand folds like a pack of cards. The High Card bosses were the main event last Chapter, but in C5 they’re much less important. They still spawn near recon towers, killing one allows you to see future storm circles.

Over time, these bosses have become much less important for strategy in winning Fortnite games. They no longer drop Slurps, or really anything of value. So, they tend to get forgotten. If you want to complete the Defeat a boss Fortnite quest, High Card is the simplest answer.

How to Defeat a Boss Fortnite
To get the quest done, follow these steps.

Land and loot up like normal
Once you reach a later storm circle, the recon towers will activate
Rotate over to High Card (marked on the map by his head as a symbol)
Fight him and his two aimless grunts

That’s how you can get it completed. High Card uses a slow-firing gun and is generally a little lighter on his feet than the other bosses. Compared to the other fights, he’s significantly easier to take down. He still counts towards the boss quests too, even if he feels more like a grunt this season.

He’s flanked by two guards, but they’re similarly easy to take down. Even their positioning makes it a simple fight. They spawn by the recon tower, on top of a hill. They always wander down it.

Eve just heading tot he Recon Tower gives you a naturally advantageous position compared to other bosses. There’s also usually little competition to taking down High Card, so you shouldn’t have to worry about third partying.

All Fortnite Bosses

High Card is the easiest solution to the Defeat a Boss Fortnite quest, but are there other viable ways to take down a boss. If you’re more interested in getting set up with the best Fortnite weapons dropped by bosses, these are all of the locations to find these characters this season:

Redline Rig – The Machinist
Brutal Beachhead – Megalo Don
Nitrodome – Ringmaster Scarr
Recon Towers – High Card

The Medallion bosses can also spawn in a convoy instead of their actual location. You’ll still be able to find them by the Medallion marker on the map though.

There’s also a handful of NPCs to consider. There’s both Cerberus and Oscar still here from past seasons. However, these have been downgraded to NPCs now.

In the past, these were full bosses. Their fights are the same, and they drop Mythic weapons still. However, they won’t count for the Defeat a Boss Fortnite quest. You will get a pretty nice shotgun though.

These Medallion bosses are a bit tough, but the prize is better. If you just want the XP from the Defeat a Boss Fortnite quest though, High Card is the easiest way to get that done.
