Derek Carr expected to miss multiple weeks with oblique injury
New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss multiple weeks with an oblique injury he suffered in a Monday Night Football loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, per Mike Garafolo.
The Saints are facing a critical matchup with their rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. New Orleans will then quickly turn around and face the Denver Broncos at home for Thursday Night Football, marking the teamās third game in 11 days. The short time between each outing makes Carrās availability doubtful for the teamās next two matchups.
Second-year quarterback Jake Haener filled in for Carr when he left Mondayās game early but isn’t the guaranteed starter going forward. Rookie Spencer Rattler was impressive during the preseason and has fought hard with Haener for the teamās QB2 job. New Orleans will monitor the progress between the two young quarterbacks and decide on a starter.
