Speaking with the Daily Mail on Wednesday, Finney recalled the time that Combs allegedly “woke up with a knife to his throat” in his Metropolitan Detention Center cell.
“I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came…I just know that it happened,” Finney said. He went on to suggest that the act may have been more about intimidation than actual violence. “If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.”
To note, Finney did not specify when the incident allegedly occurred.
The “Unbreakable” Mogul Faces Time, Threats, & IntimidationFinney shed light on the intimidation tactic behind the attack and highlighted the rapper’s unbreakable resilience. “It was probably a way to say: ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky,’” he revealed. Finney continued by saying, “Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.” Calling the 55-year-old “unbreakable,” Finney described Diddy as a “lovable caregiver, a father, brother [and] best friend,” and said he’s confident the hip-hop mogul will come out the other side still himself.
Sean “Diddy” Combs has been behind bars since September 2024 following his arrest on sex trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution charges. In July 2025, Judge Subramanian convicted him on two counts of violating the Mann Act. In early October, the judge sentenced Diddy to 50 months — four years and two months — in federal prison. Having already served one year, Diddy is expected to be released in about three years, followed by five years of supervised release.
Furthermore, the judge also hit the Bad Boy Records founder with a $500,000 fine — the maximum allowed. Additionally, the judge ordered him to complete mental health and substance abuse programs as part of his sentence. Emphasizing deterrence, Judge Subramanian stated that a lengthy sentence was necessary for Combs to avoid similar offenses if released early.
