It’s never easy finding the words in defeat with Vitinha not having many to describe the feeling of losing in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals to Borussia Dortmund. TNT Sports expert Rio Ferdinand labelled the Portugal international as “outstanding” across the two legs but Vitinha was in no mood to take positives from the last-four loss. “It’s difficult to talk right now,” he told TNT Sports.Vitinha of PSG looks on during the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg match between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund at Parc des Princes.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha said it was “difficult to talk” after the French champions crashed out of the UEFA Champions League to Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
When the initial disappointment fades, PSG might consider themselves unlucky – they had a
go against them and they struck the woodwork six times over the two legs.
Vitinha had one of the best efforts of the night, a screamer from 25 yards that hit the underside of the bar and bounced back – but PSG just couldn’t find the back of the net, which left the Portuguese player with the difficult task of summing up what bitter disappointment feels like.
“It’s difficult to talk right now, it was a big disappointing result, we gave it all but it wasn’t enough,” he told TNT Sports.
“I don’t really have a lot to talk about, [I want to] thank the fans they were amazing, they didn’t deserve this result. But I hope they will be conscious that we gave it all, it wasn’t enough but we gave it all.”
Could PSG blame bad luck? A few things didn’t go their way – but credit must also go to Borussia Dortmund’s defence, which should be to the late onslaught as wave after wave of attacks came their way in the closing stages.
“I don’t like to attribute the fault to the bad luck. I like to think it was other things, in the first game and this game as well. I don’t really want to think about it, I just want to be with my family and that’s it,” Vitinha concluded.
It won’t be any consolation right now, but Vitinha was the only player singled out by TNT Sports expert Rio Ferdinand as having given a good account of himself in defeat.
“This kid, I think he’s the only player in a PSG shirt that comes out of the two legs with any credit, who played anything near where he should be playing,” Ferdinand said after the match.
“I thought he was absolutely outstanding, Vitinha, didn’t get the winning result but I thought he was magnificent.”
