Doechii’s Met Gala 2025 Look Proves Shorts Belong on the Red Carpet
It’s Doechii’s Met Gala, and we’re just happy to witness it.
Following a whirlwind few months in which the musician skyrocketed to fame, won a Grammy, and practically shut down Paris Fashion Week, she just made her Met Gala debut in a look that stays true to her personal style.
Arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the musician wore an ivory Louis Vuitton long-tailed blazer and wide shorts in two of the house’s iconic prints. Chunky T-bar shoes, tube socks and a pussy bow—all in burgundy—completed the look.

It’s all a major nod to The Met’s 2025 theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which celebrates menswear and Black dandyism. The ensemble appears to be a subtle nod to one of fashion’s most beloved dandies, André Leon Talley, the influential Vogue editor who passed away in 2022 but looms large over this year’s exhibition. (Some of his iconic Louis Vuitton trunks are included in the show.) It bears more than a passing resemblance to this photo of a young Talley; both feature tall socks, above-the-knee shorts, and bowties. And considering Doechii just referenced another famous image of ALT, it’s clear the performer did her research.
Look closely and you’ll notice even more details woven into Doechii’s Met Gala look: Peep the Louis Vuitton logo stamped on her cheek. She topped it all off with a celebratory cigar—unlit, of course. The outfit is a collaboration between the musician and Pharrell Williams, the Louis Vuitton menswear creative director and 2025 Met Gala co-chair.

Beyond giving us new inspiration for styling a suit, Doechii’s look also proves that shorts are just as great for event dressing as dresses and trousers. Suffice it to say, it’s one of our absolute favorite red carpet looks tonight. Call her Doechii the Don, Doechii the dean, Doechii supreme—and perhaps Doechii the future Met Gala regular.
