Does Dune: Part Two Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Post-credits scenes are a thing of the past. Though you can still spot a few in Marvel films, most modern blockbusters have thrown the trend aside. This weekend, Dune: Part Two will join the club. Based on director Denis Villeneuve’s interviews so far, Dune: Part Two is likely the second movie in a planned trilogy. If audiences already know that we’ll see Dune: Messiah in a couple of years, then they’ll return to theaters no matter what.

Plus, Villeneuve isn’t a fan of post-credits scenes. “I don’t like post-credits scenes,” he told NME in 2021. “There is a very specific final emotion that I was looking for with the final frame [of Dune] and I don’t want to mess with that. So no, I don’t use post-credits scenes. I’ve never done that and I would never.”

So, while we highly encourage that you sit through the credits—recognize the cast and crew, people!—the final shot of Dune: Part Two is the final shot. Warner Bros. hasn’t officially announced Dune: Messiah, but I couldn’t imagine a world where the studio doesn’t give Villeneuve the green light. In our review of Part Two, we called it “the best sci-fi film of the decade.”

Dune Part: Two will see the return of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), as they bring the fight to House Harkonnen’s Vladimir (Stellan SkarsgÃ¥rd) and Feyd-Rautha (Austin Butler). Chalamet will ride giant sandworms, lose himself in the spice, and learn more about the desert planet of Arrakis. If we’re lucky, we’ll trek back to theaters for the third and final installment in no time.
