Dolphins predicted to trade Tyreek Hill to NFC North team that would have a nearly unstoppable offense

The Miami Dolphins have to reach the playoffs at a bare minimum to consider the 2025 season a success.

After leading the Dolphins to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 — where they were eliminated in the wildcard round each season — Mike McDaniel enters 2025 on the hot seat after Miami took a major step back in 2024.

McDaniel entered last season as one of the hottest young coaches in the NFL, but things can change quickly in this league. In his first season as the Dolphins head coach, McDaniel implemented his high-octane offense and Miami snuck into the playoffs with a (9-8) record.

The next season, the Miami Dolphins took another major step forward, finishing the regular season with an (11-5) record. Most importantly, QB Tua Tagovailoa played in every game in 2023 for the first time in his career. He played at a high level too, which led the Dolphins brass to give him a massive contract extension ahead of the 2024 campaign.

Last July, the Miami brass bet all their chips on Tagovailoa, giving him a four-year extension worth $212.4. million, with $167 million guaranteed.

In his first two seasons playing under McDaniel for the Dolphins, Tagovailoa ranked second in the NFL in pass yards per attempt (8.5) and passer rating (102.9), fourth in total passing yards (8,172) and fifth in passing TDs (54).

So it’s easy to see why the organization chose to pay the former Alabama QB as the Dolphins franchise QB moving forward, but his injury history, especially with concussions, was a concern then and continues to be a major concern moving forward.

Tagovailoa was sidelined with concussions multiple times in his first three seasons in the NFL — and after playing every game of the 2023 campaign — he took another blow to the head early in the 2024 season and it appeared as if his career was in real jeopardy. Ultimately, Tagovailoa ended up missing four games and the Dolphins offense plummeted to dead last in the NFL during his absence.

By the time he returned, the hole was two big for the Dolphins to climb out of and they finished the year with an (8-9) record and missed the postseason. Miami hasn’t made any huge moves during free agency, but there are a few that are notable to say the least. Bringing in Zach Wilson gives the Dolphins a reliable backup QB in case Tagovailoa has to miss time. They added RB Alexander Mattison to give their backfield some depth and signed WR Nick Westbrook-Ikhine who had a breakout year with the Titans last season.

Westbrook-Ikhine finished the 2024 campaign with 32 catches for 497 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s flashed enough potential to become a No. 2 WR in the NFL and it’s fair to question if the Dolphins may be planning to move Tyreek Hill and make Jaylen Waddle the No. 1 wideout.

TWSN believes the Dolphins are going to trade Hill to the Chicago Bears, who have been active in free agency adding protection and weapons around second-year QB Caleb Williams:

For another season, the Miami Dolphins failed to live up to expectations. With that, Tyreek Hill has reached his peak with the team, and will look to be traded to finish his career with a team better suited to maximize his talents.

As free agency continues and the second wave of the offseason is on the horizon, the Miami Dolphins haven’t signed too many players to truly help the team advance past their record of 8-9 they had last season.

With that they could be looking to go with a younger approach and draft for needs on the team, which could result in them trading away players as the offseason progresses. A key name to watch is Tyreek Hill.

With the Chicago Bears making big signings all throughout free agency to build around Caleb Williams, they haven’t looked at the wide receiver position yet fully. That is where a trade for Tyreek Hill comes into play.

Chicago has a talented young receiver room with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze, but they didn’t necessarily help out as predicted in 2025. With adding Hill, he would help provide Williams with a downfield threat with his speed, and the wining experience to help both Odunze and Moore fully develop and form the best trio for the Bears. Chicago isn’t far off from being Super Bowl contenders, and Hill would help propel them further towards that.
