Donald Trump hails ‘amazing’ Mike Tyson ahead of controversial fight with Jake Paul
Former United States president Donald Trump has given his backing to Mike Tyson as he prepares to make his ring return.
Despite turning 58 this year, Tyson is making his boxing comeback on November 15 against Jake Paul in one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The heavyweight duo will compete at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, with around 60,000 tickets already believed to be sold.
And President Trump, whose re-election bid comes to a head tonight in America, is a fan of both men. He famously hosted a number of Tyson’s biggest fights in his casinos in the 80s, and has since formed a bond with both Jake and his brother Logan Paul.

He appeared on the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast with Bill Belichick, Maxx Crosby, Peter King and Jim Gray, and recalled his time working with ‘Iron Mike’ in his previous life as a real estate tycoon.
“Well, I know them both actually,” Trump said of the fight. “Jake is terrific. And I know him, I know the two brothers. And Mike is great. You know, look, I had Mike’s fight with [Michael] Spinks. I had, I think I had more Mike Tyson fights than anybody, and he was brutal.

“It was weird because it started at seven in the morning. You know, you get up and you go to a fight. Nobody could believe what the hell was happening, including Mike.
“But Mike is a great guy, actually. He’s a different kind of a guy. He’s an amazing guy. He’s been very loyal to me. He endorsed me right away.”

Just this weekend he released an impassioned video officially endorsing the former president in his race against Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris. He made a lengthy argument in favor of the Republican, laying his thoughts bare for viewers.

Tyson, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet on the current presidential race. But he has previously been vocal in his support of Trump, telling the Daily Caller in an aggressive 2019 interview that he was proudly voting for him in his initial re-election bid.
“I’m voting for Trump, so what’s somebody going to do about it?” he answered in relatively intimidating fashion. “I like Donald Trump and I’m going to vote for him. So what? What are you going to do? Shoot me? Beat me up? “
