Dwyane Wade had high praise for the Chicago Sky after a successful WNBA draft night.

The Sky selected South Carolina star Kamilla Cardoso with the No. 3 pick before taking LSU star Angel Reese with the No. 7 pick, and Wade approved of the picks.

“The foundation is set,” Wade said in a post on X. “Welcome Kamilla Cardoso x Angel Reese.”

He then declared it a “new era” in Chicago, which is Wade’s hometown.

The Sky got two stars in Cardoso and Reese. Cardoso averaged 14.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game last year, leading the Gamecocks to a national championship. Reese put up 18.6 points and 13.4 rebounds per game in her final season with the Tigers.

Cardoso stands at 6’7″ while Reese stands at 6’3″. Having that height in the paint gives the Sky one of the best young frontcourts in the league.

Now, the two former SEC rivals will suit up for the same squad and look to lead Chicago back to glory. The Sky won the WNBA Finals in 2021 but struggled last season, going 18-22. With a dynamic duo roaming the paint, it likely won’t be long before Chicago is competing for a championship once again.
