EA Sports FC 26’s First PS5, PS4 Trailer Is an Ode to the Haters
Changing the game?
Here you go, then, your first look at EA Sports FC 26 – but don’t worry, the publisher’s heard your complaints, and it’s kicking things off with real gameplay.
This trailer is pretty good, as it digs into all the sh*t EA Sports gets on an annual basis. Obviously we’re sure the complaints will start again soon, but it does feel like the publisher has been listening.
The thing that immediately jumped out to us is Competitive and Authentic gameplay.
The former will be used in multiplayer modes like Ultimate Team and Clubs, offering a pacier and more responsive experience, tuned to appeal to the sweats who play online.
The latter, meanwhile, will focus on those looking for an authentic campaign in Career mode. It’s quite interesting how the tastes of the communities for each mode have widened so much.
Speaking of Career, a new feature named Manager Live will add ever-changing tasks to your playthrough inspired by the real-world of football. We’ll need to see exactly what these entail and how they’re implemented, but it seems like an interesting way to add fresh challenges to the game.
Archetypes will also bring more individuality to Clubs and Player Career, allowing you to better hone your personality on the pitch.
And of course there’ll be a slew of gameplay improvements, including improved dribble responsiveness, enhanced goalkeeper positioning, and more.
Here’s what EA Sports bigwig John Shepherd had to say:
“FC 26 reflects our ongoing commitment to building this game with and for our community. We are players too, and that shared passion drives everything we do. This year brings an overhauled gameplay experience, new Tournaments and Live Events in FUT, all-new Archetype customisation in Clubs, and a Career Mode that comes alive through evolving Challenges. We can’t wait for players to feel the difference this September and help shape the future of FC.”
All is set to be fully unveiled over the coming weeks, and we’ll bring you the news as and when we get it.
The full game is due out on 26th September on PS5 and PS4, with Ultimate Edition owners getting Early Access a week earlier, from 19th September. There’ll also be a 10-hour EA Play trial from 19th September, too.
