Eagles add DT depth, cut long snapper
The Eagles are dealing with the part of training camp where guys are getting a little banged up and they need some extra bodies for practice reps. The team announced that they’ve added DT Justin Rogers and released long snapper Christian Johnstone as a result.
Adding some defensive tackle depth makes sense given Tuesday’s injury report, which included DT Gabe Hall sidelined with a shoulder injury and DT Byron Young limited with a groin injury. Rogers was a seventh-round pick in 2024 and was drafted by the Cowboys before spending time with the Bengals and Seahawks.
The team releasing Johnstone probably means that veteran long snapper Charley Hughlett is ready to return after spending multiple training camp practices sidelined with a neck injury.
There’s still plenty of time for roster movement as we get through the preseason to final roster cuts. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them bring in some offensive guard help too, with Landon Dickerson (knee) and Kenyon Green (shoulder) both reportedly considered week-to-week.
