Eagles promote Kevin Patullo to offensive coordinator, hire new passing game coordinator
The Philadelphia Eagles are promoting passing game coordinator/associate head coach Kevin Patullo to offensive coordinator, according to an official team announcement.
The Eagles are also hiring Miami Dolphins offensive assistant Parks Frazier to be their new passing game coordinator, according to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero.
Letâs sort through this news on a coach-by-coach basis.
Earlier this month, we wrote about how Patullo was considered to be a âstrong candidateâ to replace Kellen Moore.
Hereâs what we said at the time:
From the outside looking in, Patullo doesnât necessarily seem like a slam dunk candidate from a merit standpoint. A few concerns:
Heâs never been an offensive coordinator before and he doesnât have extensive play-calling experience.
Heâs been Sirianniâs right-hand man since arriving in Philly. And the Eagles clearly wanted Sirianni to be less involved with the offense after their 2023 collapse, hence the Moore hiring. The line between Sirianni/Patullo could be blurred, which was an issue with the Sirianni/Johnson dynamic.
The Eaglesâ passing game hasnât exactly been awesome this season! As Sheil Kapadia recently noted, they ranked 14th in passing DVOA, which was tied for their lowest ranking in any season with Hurts as the starter. And itâs not like the Eagles lack the required talent for a top 10 passing offense.
This isnât to suggest that Patullo doesnât stand a chance at being a good candidate. Perhaps he has a promising plan to fix some of the offensive issues from this season.
Eagles fans werenât exactly jazzed about the prospect of a Patullo promotion. Perhaps thatâs changed after the teamâs Super Bowl win but these are results from a February 3 poll:
Despite previously voicing desire for coaching continuity, Jalen Hurts didnât exactly seem thrilled about a potential Patullo promotion when asked about the possibility just a few days after the Eaglesâ Super Bowl win:
The Eagles were required to interview at least two minority candidates to replace Moore but we never heard of their reported interest in those people prior to this Patullo promotion. Jeff McLane reports âthere wasnât an extensive searchâ for Mooreâs replacement.
A few things on the #Eagles promoting Kevin Patullo as OC that I have been hearing from sources:
– He was the leading candidate once the team knew that Kellen Moore was likely to leave for the Saints HC job.
– So there wasnât an extensive search.
– Patullo has been NickâŠ

Patullo might end up being a good offensive coordinator. He contributed to the Eaglesâ Super Bowl success at some level and he might have good ideas for the future of this offense. His close relationship with Sirianni might be a positive in terms of the head coach trusting him to call plays unlike how Sirianni reportedly meddled in the play-calling process when Brian Johnson was OC.
Patullo has much to prove, though, as the Eagles try to repeat as Super Bowl champs.

PARKS FRAZIER
Hereâs a snapshot of the 33-year-old Parkerâs coaching experience:
2015 â Samford defensive quality control
2015 â Middle Tennessee State defensive quality control
2016 â Arkansas State graduate assistant
2018-2019 â Indianapolis Colts assistant to the head coach
2020 â Indianapolis Colts offensive quality control
2021-2022 â Indianapolis Colts assistant quarterbacks coach
2023 â Carolina Panthers passing game coordinator
2024 â Miami Dolphins offensive assistant
Frazier notably overlapped with Sirianni and Patullo in Indy from 2018-2020.
Frazier actually finished the 2022 season calling plays for the Colts after Frank Reich got fired and Jeff Saturday took over as interim head coach (lol).
