Simone Biles Describes Her Love For Jonathan Owens
Still, it was the heartwarming way she spoke of her husband, Jonathan Owens, that has fans online begging for the champ’s private prayers! Speaking with Leah Faye Cooper, Simone revealed how marrying her pandemic bae topped winning her first Olympics.

“I’ve never had so much fun in my life,” Simone Biles told Vanity Fair. “I was 19 when I won my first Olympics, and I was like, How am I supposed to top this? My wedding topped it. It was the greatest feeling ever.”

Their romance began on an invite-only dating app, Raya, in 2020. Jonathan insists she messaged him first during her first week on the app. After meeting in person the second week, they became inseparable — a fact both Simone and Jonathan agree on. In Simone’s words to VF, they were “hooked.”

Their early dates were restricted to each other’s households due to the Covid-19 outbreak. They enjoyed “movies, playing games and drinking sangria.” But Owens told VF what he remembers most was Simone’s “contagious” laughter and how their conversations continuously flowed.

“We could talk all day and we’d stayed up late, and there just wasn’t an awkward moment,” Owens shared.

As for Biles, what she remembers is not only how “fine” he was (and is) but how “sweet and kind” he treated her.

The pair had a double wedding last year, nearly a year after he proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2022. First, they married in Texas in April, then celebrated with a larger ceremony in Mexico in May.

Jonathan Owens Mentions Origin Story That Got Him Dragged Last Month
Owens also mentioned that he wasn’t aware of Biles’ achievements in gymnastics at the start of their romance. Everything clicked after he found her on Instagram.

This isn’t the first time the pair’s fans have heard this narrative. Just a few weeks ago, Owens came under fire online for how he explained that bit during a guest spot on The Pivot Podcast.

His now-wife took to social media amid the backlash, adding that folks want her “to be insecure so bad.”

For context, as mentioned in her VF interview, Simone Biles holds 37 Olympic and World Championship medals. As of last fall, Biles is the “most decorated gymnast in history,” with at least five of the sports’ stunts named after her.
