ELECTRIC-START RM250 TWO-STROKE: PROJECT BIKE SPOTLIGHT
How about an electric-start Suzuki race bike? No, this is not a brand-new machine that just rolled off Suzuki’s assembly line in Japan! Charles and the crew at mXrevival got their hands on this RM250 back when it landed on U.S. shores in 2006, and decided to give it some love and something that not even modern-day Suzuki race bikes have—a magic button!
Here are some of the key points for the build:
Built for motocross applications, Dunlop’s brand-new MX34 tires are designed for soft-to-intermediate terrain, featuring block-in-a-block technology for more aggressive cornering and slide control in a variety of track conditions.
Hygge Performance’s two-stroke cone exhaust pipes are 100 percent handcrafted in Canada, and made in small batches to increase overall performance while being designed to work with all OEM and aftermarket silencers.
Brand-new Bolt Hardware fasteners come in a complete kit and are used throughout this build, replacing the old OEM Suzuki hardware.
Phoenix 118 handlebars feature a tapered design, laser-etched cut lines, 57mm sweep and are available in four different height options.
ICW straightened out and put braces on our OEM radiators, making them almost indestructible.
The SM Pro Platinum wheelsets are built from scratch with 7050 T6 aluminum rims, Bulldog spokes, machine-specific spacers and dust seals. Available in a variety of color combinations for most popular two-stroke models.
Pryme MX frame protection is a thick vinyl material with a strong adhesive back made from a sandpaper-type material that will improve grip without damaging boots or riding gear.
mXrevival worked with the entire crew at MX Plastics and Decal Works to come up with a semi-custom graphics kit that updated the overall look along with giving it a Ken Roczen number 94 vibe as well.
Brandon and his crew at AHM Factory Services handled all the suspension needs on this mXrevival RM250 build. This included a complete rebuild internally with new seals, valving, springs, oil and all the specialty coatings that give it that true factory feel.
The Lectron Pro-Series model takes the positives of both traditional jetted carburetors and metering rod carburetors to combine and improve upon them. The Pro 38 introduces the new Torque Jet feature while continuing to utilize the metering rod and power-jet circuits. Lectron states the results are a control over fuel delivery that has been referenced to “near EFI mapping capabilities.”
The Panthera starter assembly fits 2001–2008 Suzuki RM250 two-stroke models. The kit is a non-charging stator design, so a battery recharge every 100–125 starts will be necessary. The kit comes with everything needed and the option of a battery being included at a price starting at $1495.
Fastway Evolution 4 footpegs are precision engineered featuring patented height, traction and camber adjustability. The universal collar system lets you customize your mount in either the stock or lowered positions on most bikes simply by reversing the collar. The Fastway patented, replaceable traction cleat system allows you to customize the shape and traction level of your footbed.
