Emily Blunt Said Her And John Krasinski’s Daughters Thought She Was “The Meanest Person” Ever After Watching “The Devil Wears Prada”

Based on a novel of the same name, the 2006 movie is all about Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, who gets a job working as a junior assistant to one of New York City’s most prolific fashion magazine editors, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl Streep.

Emily’s character — ironically also named Emily — is Miranda’s senior assistant, and, for numerous reasons, she isn’t pleased about Andy’s hiring, so she spends much of the plot being quite unfriendly towards her.

Despite not being the most loveable character in The Devil Wears Prada, the role significantly boosted Emily’s career in the 2000s. And now, she’s revealing what her two daughters think of her memorable performance in the film.

Speaking to Page Six last week, Emily said that 10-year-old Hazel and 7-year-old Violet — whom she shares with husband John Krasinski — thought she was “the meanest person they’ve ever met” after watching the movie.

Giving a shoutout to her castmates, Emily said they had “the time of [their] lives” working on the movie, which earned Meryl an Oscar nomination for Best Actress at the 2007 Academy Awards.

Notably, despite being nothing like her mean character in real life, Emily previously joked that she may have won the part because she was stressed about missing a flight during her audition, making her icy performance seem all the more authentic.
