ESPN lists Saints RB Alvin Kamara among top 10 running backs for 2025
With less than 8 weeks left before the 2025 NFL regular season kicks off, ESPN are rolling out positional rankings listing who they see as the top players across the league at each respective position.
This week saw the release of the running back rankings, and the New Orleans Saintsâ very own Alvin Kamara has found his way back onto the list after receiving just an honorable mention a year ago.
The 29-year-old slotted in at number 10, just behind the Houston Texansâ Joe Mixon.
Despite making just 14 appearances for the black and gold in 2024, Kamara posted 1,503 scrimmage yards, of which he ran for 950 on the ground, a career high.
âSome of the elite traits are still there,â an NFL offensive coach told ESPN.
The former Tennessee Volunteer has been a consistent producer since entering the league back in 2017, and the career Saint has expressed his desire for the franchise to get back to the winning ways of his earlier seasons as a pro.
âObviously, in this league you want to win, you know, we havenât been doing much of that, at least not consistently enough,â he said at minicamp last month. âWeâre hungry to win. Nobody likes losing.â
The five-time Pro Bowler enters the 2025 season with an entirely fresh coaching staff for the first time in his career. His new head coach, Kellen Moore, orchestrated Saquon Barkleyâs outstanding 2024 campaign that has the Philadelphia Eagles star ranked number 1 on the same ESPN list.
While Kamara wonât be flirting with any top 10 baseball rankings anytime soon, at least not if his first pitch at Wrigley Field a few weeks ago provides any indication, he is clearly still respected as one of the NFLâs top backs headed into 2025.
What do you make of Kamaraâs place in the rankings? Is he too low? Should he be there at all? What are you hoping to see from him in this new Saints offense? Let us know in the comments below!
