Eugenie Bouchard Makes Bizarre ‘Hatred and Anger’ Admission to Justify Lack of Friendship on the WTA Tour
A few months back, the Canadian tennis beauty, Eugenie Bouchard shocked the tennis fraternity by switching from the WTA Tour to the PPA Tour. Returning to the news with another round of shock, Bouchard revealed that she prefers not having friends on tour. She turned 30, on February 25, this year and was showered with birthday love from several WTA stars. To make such a comment within just five days makes tennis fans wonder what led her to this conclusion.

Even in 2015, Bouchard had openly admitted that she didn’t want to become really good friends with any of the girls on the tour. Recently, she appeared on the TV show ‘Family Feud Canada’ and yet again spoke on that topic, revealing the main reason for not preferring to have friends on Tour.

Recently during an interview with the host Gerry Dee, Eugenie Bouchard was asked about her greatest accomplishment. The Canadian tennis star revealed that she was the first Canadian-born player to reach the finals of a Grand Slam (2014 Wimbledon) representing Canada. She also added that her favorite experience was representing Canada at the Olympics. But when asked if is it harder to play a friend on tour or someone she just can’t stand, Bouchard said, “I try not to have friends on Tour.”
She further added, “I found it harder to look across the net and see the face of someone I care about. And so I would prefer to have hatred and anger to demolish my opponent.” Then she jokingly stated, “Just like how I feel today.” Eugenie Bouchard grew up idolizing Maria Sharapova, but how was her relationship with her on the Tour?

The 30YO Canadian tennis star once said, “We’re not friends, so there is that. Of course, as a child, I looked up to her and I remember watching her in the finals of Wimbledon and, you know, thought what she was doing was so cool and I wanted to do the same thing.”

She also named Sloane Stephens to be one of her closest ones on the tour. “When I saw Shelby here, I hadn’t seen her for so long. We like, ran into each other’s arms. I have known for like since 12 years old and then someone like Sloane I am really close with,” said Bouchard.
