Euro 2024 tips and predictions (Updated – Quarter finals)
The group games at Euro 2024 are complete. There has been plenty of entertainment so far in Germany, with the best teams carving out a place in the round of 16.
We have made our expert analysis for the competition, picking out the teams we think will get out of the six groups. We have also studied the odds to pick out several betting tips for the Euros 2024.
So without further ado, let’s get into our football predictions for the rest of the group phase with odds provided by leading football betting sites.
Euro 2024 quarter-finals predictions🥅 Fixtures🏆 Likely winnerSpain vs Germany – July 5GermanyPortugal vs France – July 5FranceNetherlands vs Türkiye – July 6NetherlandsEngland vs Switzerland – July 6SwitzerlandSpain vs Germany could easily be the Euro 2024 final, but the draw means that one of those teams will be bidding farewell to the tournament at the quarter-final stage. Spain were the team of the group stage, but home advantage could ultimately swing that tie Germany’s way.
Portugal and France have flattered to deceive up to now, but the latter have a better record in recent tournaments. It is not hard to imagine Portugal dominating possession but being frustrated by a more streetwise France side who win the game on a breakaway or from a set-piece.
Austria beat the Netherlands in the group stage and there is no reason they could not do the same in the last eight. Ralf Rangnick’s side are more than the sum of their parts – the same cannot be said for the Dutch.
England were poor in the group stage, while Switzerland were better than most people anticipated. Still, if the Three Lions can finally click in the round of 16, they have the potential to beat anyone on their day – including the Swiss.

Euro 2024 semi-finals predictions🥅 Fixtures🏆 Likely winnerGermany vs FranceGermanyNetherlands vs SwitzerlandNetherlandsGermany will be difficult to stop if they get through to a semi-final on home soil. Their team is well balanced and Julian Nagelsmann is a hugely intelligent coach who has got the best out of the players at his disposal so far.
France know what it takes to reach major finals, having done so at Euro 2016, World Cup 2018 and World Cup 2022. They are the Real Madrid of the international game, but this may be a tournament too far for Didier Deschamps.
The Netherlands were underwhelming in the group stage, but they were much improved in the aforementioned 3-0 victory over Romania. If the Dutch can repeat that sort of showing, they could edge out Switzerland.
The concern for the Swiss is whether they might run out of steam at some point. They also lack the level of individual quality possessed by the Netherlands. That could ultimately win the day in a semi-final.
🤓 Betting tip – France to be eliminated in the semi-finals – 9/4 with Sky Bet
Euro 2024 finals predictions🥅 Fixtures🏆 Likely winnerGermany vs NetherlandsGermanyAt the European Championship in 1988, the Netherlands beat the host nation Germany in the semi-finals before a 2-0 defeat of the Soviet Union brought the country their first ever major trophy.
Defeating their neighbours and rivals in the final of Euro 2024 at Berlin’s Olympiastadion would top that achievement from 36 years ago, but it would be hard to look past the Nationalelf if they did indeed reach the showpiece event of this summer’s competition.
Julian Nagelsmann has done a fine job in charge of Germany given the national team was said to be in crisis as recently as nine months ago. The side is now well balanced from back to front, and they have been much more convincing than the Dutch up to now.
Gruelling contests against Spain and France could take something out of Germany. But with their home fans cheering them on, we would back them to beat the Netherlands in a prospective final.
Betting tip – Germany to win Euro 2024 – 9/2 with Betfred
Round of 16 results🥅 Fixtures/results🏆 WinnersSpain vs Georgia (4-1)SpainGermany vs Denmark (2-0)GermanyPortugal vs Slovenia (0-0, P: 3-0)PortugalFrance vs Belgium (1-0)FranceRomania vs Netherlands (0-3)NetherlandsAustria vs TürkiyeTürkiyeEngland vs Slovakia (2-1)EnglandSwitzerland vs Italy (2-0)SwitzerlandSpain suffered a scare against Georgia, conceding the first goal in their last-16 clash. But la Roja’s class ultimately won the day as Luis de la Fuente’s side registered a 4-1 victory over the debutants. Germany, their quarter-final opponents, beat Denmark 2-0.
Portugal required a penalty shoot-out to see off Slovenia following a 0-0 draw after extra time. Diogo Costa was the Portuguese hero, saving all three of the spot-kicks he faced. Portugal are now preparing to face France, who beat Belgium 1-0 last time out.
The Netherlands cruised to a 3-0 victory over Romania. The Dutch did not set the tournament alight in the group phase, but they proved far too strong for their last-16 opponents. They will face Turkey, who edged out Austria 2-1 in an absorbing encounter on Tuesday.
England were almost beaten by Slovakia in the round of 16, but Jude Bellingham’s bicycle kick salvaged a 1-1 draw in second-half stoppage time. England then scored again in extra time to prevail. They will now face Switzerland, who were comfortable 2-0 winners against Italy in the first knockout round.
Euro 2024 group stage final resultsGroup AGermany – Two wins and one draw have put Germany in a commanding position in Group A. The host nation thrashed Scotland 5-1 on matchday one, before registering a 2-0 victory over Hungary in their second game. A point against Switzerland was enough to send them through in top spot.
Scotland – Scotland did not do themselves justice in that 5-1 loss to Germany, but they turned in a much better display against Switzerland. A 1-1 draw left them in contention for a place in the knockout phase, which they lost after the Hungary defeat.
Hungary – Tipped as potential dark horses before the tournament began, Hungary have underwhelmed in the competition. Defeats by Switzerland (1-3) and Germany (0-2) have essentially eliminated them before the clash with Scotland.
Switzerland – Switzerland were smooth in their 3-1 victory over Hungary, but they struggled in a more intense encounter against Scotland. Still, a tally of five points brought them to the knockout phase of this year’s European Championship.

Group BSpain – Spain are through to the knockout phase as Group B winners with a game to spare. Victories over Croatia (3-0), Italy (1-0), and Albania (1-0) have given Luis de la Fuente’s side some breathing space, before the knockout phase.
Croatia – Croatia will feel their 3-0 defeat by Spain was harsh given the chances they created. But Zlatko Dalic’s side could only draw 2-2 with Albania on matchday two, leaving them in a precarious position ahead of their upcoming meeting with Italy, which Croatia managed to pull of a draw, but wasn’t enough to get them to the knockout phase.
Italy – Italy’s fate was determined by their clash with Croatia. A draw was enough to send the Azzurri through to the knockout stage. A 2-0 defeat against Switzerland stopped the champions from getting to the quarter-finals.
Albania – Albania have performed creditably against both Italy and Croatia so far, yet a return of one point from a possible six has left them vulnerable. They lost against Spain which robbed them from a chance of making it through to the last 16.

Group CSlovenia – Slovenia came within seconds of sealing a place in the knockout stage last time out, but Serbia’s late equaliser denied them all three points. Matjaz Kek’s men managed a tie against England to advance to the last 16.
Denmark – Denmark turned in a spirited showing against England on matchday one, coming from a goal down to draw 1-1. They have two points to their name and after their draw with Serbia, was enough to progress to the next round.
Serbia – Serbia flattered to deceive for much of their 1-1 draw with Slovenia, but their late equaliser keeps them in the hunt. After their draw with Denmark on matchday three, they finished last in Group C.
England – England have not impressed at the European Championship up to now, but they have five points to their name nevertheless. That means Gareth Southgate’s side finished top of Group C, which they managed after a draw with Slovenia.

Group DPoland – Poland became the first team to be eliminated from Euro 2024 on Friday. They lost their first two games against the Netherlands and Austria, leaving them on zero points ahead of a meeting with France. Despite the draw with France, Poland finished bottom.
Netherlands – The Netherlands looked like they were playing for a draw against France last time out – and that is exactly what they got. They sit top of Group D on goals scored but have finished third after losing to Austria (3-2).
Austria – Austria are the team looking to overtake the Netherlands on matchday three. They beat Ronald Koeman’s side, and finished first in Group D.
France – France beat Austria 1-0 before the goalless draw with the Netherlands on Friday night. A draw against Poland secured them second spot.

Group EBelgium – Belgium slumped to a shock 1-0 defeat by Slovakia on matchday one, but a 2-0 victory over Romania on Saturday night has lifted them right back into contention for the knockout phase. A draw with Ukraine managed to send them through in a group that all teams were tied for points.
Slovakia – Slovakia would have advanced to the knockout stage had they avoided defeat by Ukraine on matchday two, but a 2-1 defeat means they still have work to do. However, a draw with Romania in their final group game was enough to get them a match with England.
Romania – Romania swaggered their way to a 3-0 win against Ukraine in their first match, before going down to Belgium on Saturday. A draw with Slovakia was enough to see them at the top of group E.
Ukraine – Ukraine got off to the worst start imaginable in Germany with that 3-0 loss to Romania. But they came from behind to beat Slovakia last time out to keep their hopes alive. Unfortunately, a win against Belgium was not in the cards and they finished last in group E.

Georgia – Georgia spurned a golden chance to beat Czech Republic with the last kick of the game on Saturday. The tournament debutants managed to beat Portugal (2-0) and made it through to the round of 16.
Portugal – Two triumphs in two games has sent Portugal through to the knockout phase as Group F winners with a game to spare. They still finished first, even after their surprise defeat against Georgia.
Czechia – With just one point to their name from a possible nine, Czech Republic failed to secure a place in the knockout phase of Euro 2024.
