Even More Ex-Xbox Executives Speak Out About ‘Tension’ of Game Pass

Image: Push SquareUpdate [Sun 7th Sep 2025, 12pm]: Shannon Loftis, who served as the head of first-party studio World’s Edge and was the VP of Xbox Game Studios, has joined in on the discussion of Game Pass.

In the aftermath of former Bethesda boss Pete Hines’ comments, she concurred in a post on LinkedIn:

“As a long-time first-party Xbox developer, I can attest that Pete is correct. While Game Pass can claim a few victories with games that otherwise would have sunk beneath the waves (Human Fall Flat), the majority of game adoption on [Game Pass] comes at the expense of retail revenue, unless the game is engineered from the ground up for post-release monetisation. I could (and may someday) write pages on the weird inner tensions this creates.”
