Everything We Know About Jordan Peele’s Fourth Movie
When Jordan Peele released Get Out in 2017, we suspected heād become one of the greatest auteurs of our time. His follow-ups, Us and Nope, further proved his horror and sci-fi chops, with each project delivering sobering social commentariesāand the occasional laugh. (We still miss you, Key & Peele.) Now, Peele is gearing up for his next project: a mysterious, unnamed movie which he says might be his best yet.
Peele recently appeared on the podcast Conan OāBrien Needs a Friend, where he spoke about his new film. The project, which Universal Pictures originally planned to drop on December 25 2024, was stalled due to the SAG-AFTRA Strike. āThis has beenā¦ obviously itās been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had me in a state of listening, and thatās where I needed to be,ā Peele said. āI do feel like my next project is clear to me, and Iām psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.ā
So, whatās the movie about? Peele isnāt ready to disclose any details, but he’s given a few cryptic teases so far. During the red carpet for Nope, Variety asked Peele about the inspiration for his next project. āI always have something Iām working on that Iām trying to figure out,ā he said. āAs time goes by, the world gives me awfulness to interpret.ā
Not to get too ahead of ourselves, but the 44-year-old director is even looking past his fourth film. After the premiere of Get Outāwhich earned $255 million at the box office and four Oscar nominationsāPeele confirmed that he had four social thrillers in the works. So far, two have been made, and in 2022, Peele told the Associated Press that he wanted to make even more films. āI feel like Iām off to the races,ā Peele said, after releasing Nope. “I just donāt know if I could limit how many films I have that are me. Iām starting to lose sight of what I would be doing if I wasnāt doing movies like this. So, I would say the project has extended.”
While we wait for his next masterpiece (I have high hopes, OK?) Peele is veering into a new medium: video games. Last year, we learned learned that Peele would team up with gaming legend Hideo Kojima for a new project called OD. Kojima says it’s an āimmersive and totally new style of game,ā exploring what could happen if you āOD on fear.ā Given Peeleās history with horror, it sounds like heās the right man for the job.
