Fabio Silva angers Rangers fans with ’embarrassing’ celebration following goal against 10-man Kilmarnock

Fabio Silva scored Rangers’ equaliser against Kilmarnock on Sunday, but his celebration enraged his own supporters.

Silva scored in the eighth minute of added time at the end of the first half.

Posting the video on X, formerly Twitter, one fan said: “Fabio Silva with a quite embarrassing celebration towards the Rangers fans. Fair to say his antics have not made him popular with the fans and that certainly will not help.”

The 21-year-old joined the Scottish Premiership side in January, but has not hit the ground running.

He has just two goals in 14 appearances, and four in all competitions.

Ex-Rangers favourite Derek Ferguson has been left unimpressed with his antics.

He told Ibrox News: “No I don’t think he’s been successful. I’m trying to think of a game where he’s actually stood out and played really well. Maybe one against his old [rivals] Benfica, that was it. But apart from that no, I think he’s huffed and puffed.

“I was really excited when we got him, not only we had a £35million player, a young guy, 21-year-old, who should be hungry and want to prove a point.

“And he’s just not done it. At times some of his antics have got me tearing my hair out, but I’ve not got any to tear out.

“I hate it. That’s the one part of the game, it actually kills me, it does my nut in. I hate to see it, people feigning injury. Rangers are going to have no chance of getting him anyway but I think he’s been pretty poor.”

Kilmarnock had taken the lead against Rangers, through a James Tavenier own goal, before Joe Wright was sent off in the 22nd minute.

Silva equalised before the Gers ran away with it in the second half.

Ben Davies, Tom Lawrence and John Souttar all scored as they won 4-1.
