Falcons listed as top suitor for 100+ sack superstar pass rusher

One thing is clear for the Atlanta Falcons this offseason: they need to address their pass rush. The Falcons ended the season with just 31 sacks, the second-least amount in the entire league. It wasn’t supposed to be this way, as Atlanta acquired star pass rusher Matthew Judon just before Week 1, hoping he’d be the answer to their woes.

He wasn’t, as Judon ended the season with 5.5 sacks, which was second on the team behind Arnold Ebiketie. The Falcons clearly need a dominant edge rusher to take their defense to the next level, which is why Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested them as a top suitor for future Hall of Famer Khalil Mack.

While Mack’s age will likely keep him away from teams in the early stages of a rebuild, he should be coveted by those with realistic 2025 playoff aspirations. The Falcons, who had only 31 sacks in 2024, could use pass-rushing help however they can get it. Falcons defensive line coach Jay Rodgers was Los Angeles’ defensive line coach for most of last season.

Mack dealt with nagging injuries all season for the Los Angeles Chargers, but managed to log six sacks and 15 quarterback hits in 16 games. It’s also notable to mention it was his first year in a new system, as defensive coordinator Jesse Minter’s style was different from the previous season where Mack had 17 sacks.

If the Falcons feel confident in swinging at another older pass rusher, Mack would be an ideal fit.
