Talk about a summer of love!
Famed jeweler Sybil Yurman — cofounder of the luxe brand David Yurman — had a romance in the ’60s with famed “Fire and Rain” singer James Taylor.
During a 92Y talk with Fern Mallis in Manhattan as part of Mallis’ “Fashion Icons” series, Sybil revealed she spent the summer of 1969 in Martha’s Vineyard, when she had a chance meeting with the singer that led to more.

Yurman recalled that she had only brought a sleeping bag and some art supplies to the island — and spent her first night sleeping on a cliff after watching the sunset.
In the morning she was awakened by the young “How Sweet It Is” singer, who advised her not to sleep there again because his mother would have her arrested if she found her trespassing on their private property.
Sybil, who was a painter, said that Taylor took her to a friend’s home filled with female art students where she spent a summer dancing and hanging, and had a brief romance with the superstar musician.

Taylor’s family vacationed on the Vineyard, and he later bought a home and recorded there. He later married Carly Simon in 1972.
Sybil — who lived in a communal space for Beat writers called Hyphen House along with Allen Ginsberg, Peter Orlovsky and Neal Cassady in 1959 — also recounted meeting a roommate, “On the Road” writer Jack Kerouac, when he was passed out in their kitchen.
The encounter, she said, inspired her to stop drinking.

Sybil’s husband David was also at the 92Y talk. The pair also met in 1969 — when they were both working for sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp in New York.
They wed in 1979 and founded their business, a celeb favorite, in 1980.
