Fans think Zahara Jolie ‘reworked’ mom Angelina’s iconic Oscars dress for ‘Maria’ premiere

Did Zahara Jolie borrow from her A-list mom’s closet?

The 19-year-old college student attended the New York Film Festival premiere of Angelina Jolie’s forthcoming movie, “Maria,” on Sunday wearing a slinky white halter dress that was totally in line with her mom’s red carpet aesthetic.

And a number of fans on X (formerly Twitter) believe the dress may have been plucked from Angelina’s fashion archives and altered for the occasion.

“Is Zahara wearing the same dress reworked?” one asked, sharing a photo of Angelina in the iconic Marc Bouwer design at the 2004 Academy Awards.

“Is Zahara wearing Angie’s Oscars dress omg???” a third echoed, while a third wrote, “Pretty sure Zahara is wearing Angelina’s 2004 Oscars gown by Marc Bouwer at NYFF.”

Angie’s exact gown made headlines earlier this year, when Sydney Sweeney wore it to the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

It’s unclear if Zahara altered the vintage garment for Sunday’s premiere; the teen’s slinky style also resembles the draped Atelier Jolie design Angelina modeled for a recent CR Fashion Book shoot.

Zahara previously dipped into her mom’s closet — as did Shiloh — for the 2021 “Eternals” premiere, where she wore Angelina’s beaded Elie Saab gown. FilmMagic

This wouldn’t be the first time the Spelman College student gave one of her mom’s red carpet looks a second life; at the 2021 “Eternals” premiere, she wore Angelina’s beaded Elie Saab Haute Couture gown from the 2014 Oscars.

Also at the “Maria” screening were Maddox and Pax, who wore gray and black suits, respectively.

As for the mom of six — who also shares Shiloh, Vivienne and Knox with ex-husband Brad Pitt — she once again paid homage to opera singer Maria Callas, whom she portrays in the Netflix biopic, in a beautifully draped vintage Madame Grès gown.
