The Green Bay Packers made one of the more surprising signings in free agency this offseason, bringing aboard star running back Josh Jacobs while releasing Aaron Jones.
But quarterback Jordan Love is expecting big things from his new teammate.
“Getting Josh here, it’s been awesome,” he told The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “I’m excited to see him on the field. He’s an awesome player. He’s an awesome teammate so far. It’s been good getting to know him. I’m excited to see what he can do this year.”
Head coach Matt LaFleur is equally hyped.
“I think he’s a fit in any offense,” he said. “His running style, he runs extremely hard. He’s really tough to take down. He’s got great hands out of the backfield. I think any time, at least the way we evaluate these runners, you almost have to catch the ball out of the backfield now. He’s great in pass protection. He’s a great teammate, great leader. I’ve enjoyed getting to know him, and so I think there’s a lot of great things he brings to our football team.”
Jacobs, 26, should be on your fantasy radar as a potential RB1 next season. He led football with 1,653 rushing yards in 2022 (to go along with 12 touchdowns), but injuries limited him to 13 games last season and his overall production suffered (805 rushing yards, six scores).
Granted, he wasn’t on pace to reach his huge numbers from 2022 even in a full, healthy season. The Packers—and fantasy football enthusiasts—will be hoping he returns to that level of production.
