Fantasy Football Outlook: Two Denver Broncos players to help secure victories
Whether people play in a PPR (points per reception) league or a standard league, oftentimes matchups can come down to one or two players’ performances. Likewise, injuries to star players may occur and relying on waiver wire pickups is vital for a team’s success.
The team someone drafts will not be the same team at the end of the season; it rarely ever happens. The players that fly under the radar can be the players that make or break a team’s success. Here are two players for the Denver Broncos that could be a vital part to a 2024 fantasy team:
Marvin Mims Jr. – WR (owned by 9.5% of teams)Last season, Mims had nearly 400 receiving yards on 22 receptions and one touchdown in his first year with the Broncos. For fantasy owners, that does not look appealing. However, taking into account that he Mims only had 33 targets, Mims not only has a new quarterback in Bo Nix and a new system, but he won’t have to share targets with departures Jerry Jeudy (Browns) and Samaje Perine (Chiefs), who led him in targets in 2023:
“The offseason departures… should open up a more significant role for the Oklahoma product,” said ESPN, “Mims also offers extra value in leagues that count return yards and scores, as he’s already returned one kickoff to the house in his career”.
Greg Dulcich – TE (owned by 1.3% of teams)There was a time where only a select few of tight ends would be worthwhile on one’s team. However, as evidence to Thursday night’s Chiefs vs. Ravens game, the big names like Kelce and Andrews did not see much action, and young players like Dulcich may see themselves with bigger roles in fantasy. Although Dulcich has faced injuries in back-to-back seasons, ESPN and the Broncos believe he could be a safety net for the rookie quarterback:
“Even though [Dulcich is] beginning the year second on the depth chart behind Adam Trautman, who figures to be deployed primarily as a blocker, Dulcich could take on added importance in the passing game with rookie Bo Nix taking over as the starting quarterback…”.
