Fantasy United: Select your side for Southampton!

Wednesday 11 September 2024 10:27

Manchester United are back in action after the September international break this weekend, with a Premier League trip to Southampton.

Erik ten Hag’s Reds will be looking to get back to winning ways in Saturday’s 12:30 BST kick-off on the south coast, following defeats to Brighton and Liverpool before the current hiatus.

Our visit to St Mary’s Stadium will also be your next chance to play our new fantasy football game, Fantasy United, in which you score points based on the real-life actions of your selected squad.

If you have already signed up for 2024/25, your team may already be up and running on the leaderboard following our opening three top-flight matches of the season.

But, if you are yet to get involved, it’s not too late to do so! In fact, it’s a great time to start your journey, with our Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa League campaigns also set to begin this month, meaning there’s plenty of matches to come and, with them, opportunities for you to make up ground on your opponents at a rapid rate.

Once you’ve opened your first Player Trading Cards pack – featuring digital collectibles of each member from Ten Hag’s squad – you will have enough options to choose your first five-man line-up.

Picking a team name and saving your side will automatically enter you into the global rankings alongside fellow United fans, while you can also join mini-leagues with friends and go up against Reds heroes of the past in our Legends league.

Your squad must be selected 90 minutes before kick-off to score points in that match, so this weekend’s deadline is 11:00 BST on Saturday morning.

UNITED’S TOP SCORERS SO FAR

If you are looking to submit your line-up for this weekend’s clash with Southampton, you may be interested to know which Reds have been the best players to have in your team, through the opening weeks of the season.

Our top scorer, since Fantasy United points were registered for the first time in our Premier League opener against Fulham, is centre-back Lisandro Martinez.

The Argentina international, who has been away with his country this month, has played every minute of the Reds’ three top-flight matches so far this campaign and tallied up 17 points in that time.

Martinez’s fellow defenders Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot follow closely behind, with 15 and 14 respectively, having also been main features in Ten Hag’s backline so far this term.

1st – Lisandro Martinez (17 points)

2nd – Noussair Mazraoui (15 points)

3rd – Diogo Dalot (14 points)
