Fast And Furious 11: Everything You Need To Know
Bring the family over and crack out a Corona, itâs time to talk Fast and Furious 11. The next chapter of the much-loved action franchise is on the horizon, and rumours are beginning to trickle out as to just what we can expect.
With the films having taken us everywhere from the favelas of Brazil, to the polar ice caps, a brief trip into space and even to Neptuneâs Net seafood restaurant, itâs always a wonder as to just how far the writers will take us as each film tries to outdo the last. Weâre some time from finding out but, for now, hereâs everything you need to know about Fast and Furious 11.
Spoiler alert: In case you havenât seen Fast X, or somehow any film before it, prepare for a few plot points to be discussed. Complaints? âForget about it, cuh.â
When is Fast and Furious 11 out?As weâre writing this, Fast and Furious 11 is pencilled in for a US release date of April 4, 2025, as confirmed by Vin Diesel himself – and weâd expect other markets to have an identical if not similar release. Just worth a note thatâs also the same day the Minecraft film is due to come out.
By that point, itâll have been just shy of two years since Fast X first hit the big screen.
Will it be called Fast and Furious 11?Right now, Fast and Furious 11 is not the official title and weâre yet to find out exactly what the film will be called.
The imaginative Fast X: Part 2 has been widely touted as a potential name but weâre yet to see any concrete evidence of this. The rumour seems to have spouted from an Instagram post from Vin Diesel confirming the film was in production, saying âFor those who didnât know the FastX was just part one, know that part two is going to be an effort from our fast family and studio like you have never seen.â
What will the plot be?Fast X left us on quite the cliffhanger. Just to rejig your memory, or in case you havenât seen the film and have no interest in watching the ending for yourself, we see a plane carrying Roman, Tej, Han, and Ramsey shot down by Aimes – who turns out to have been working with antagonist Dante Reyes and duping Dom Torettoâs crew in the process. It cuts to the end credits shortly after and weâre yet to learn the fate of those on board but, in typical F&F fashion, weâll expect them to all miraculously survive.
What else the plot of Fast and Furious 11 will contain remains a mystery for the time being. According to film critic Jeff Sneider, the film will be going âback to basicsâ which has been interpreted by some – including Craig Lieberman, the man responsible for the cars in the first two films – as a return to street racing.
We find it a little hard to believe the franchise could turn so easily back to its roots at this point, but weâre open to being wrong. Right now, it seems few people know for certain with even Jason Momoa, who plays Dante Reyes, claiming in an interview with Variety in January that he hadnât seen a script.
He added: “I put out my ideas and we’ll see where it goes. But that’s probably a ways offâ
Jason Momoa says he is yet to see a script for the next Fast film
Is anyone returning to Fast and Furious 11?Fast and Furious is the franchise of unlikely comebacks. Just take a look at Sun Kangâs Han for example, who returned for Fast 9 despite us seeing him die on screen. Twice.
Gal Galdot made a return as Gisele in Fast X, even though we witness her fall off the back of a plane and into darkness to save Hanâs life in Fast and Furious 6.
Expect at least one insane surprise in Fast and Furious 11, then. We know for sure Dwayne âThe Rockâ Johnson will be back as Luke Hobbs thanks to an end-credits scene between himself and Diesel in X, though anyone else remains a mystery at this point.
Will this be the last Fast and Furious film?Fast and Furious 11 was originally set to be the final entry to the franchise. However, it sounds as though Universal has found a way to milk the cash cow further and have it as the bridge within a trilogy.
Speaking in June 2023 with Variety, Vin Diesel said: âGoing into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter, and after the studio saw this one, they said, âCould you make Fast X the finale, a trilogy?â
No matter if Fast and Furious 11 signals the end of the main franchise or not, we can expect the name to carry on. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes has been confirmed to be in the works, focusing on The Rock and Momoa, while an untitled female-led spin-off is rumoured to be on the cards.
