Florida vs. Kentucky baseball live score, updates, highlights from 2024 College World Series knockout game

One SEC team will say its farewells to the 2024 Men’s College World Series on Wednesday afternoon.

No. 2 Kentucky faces unranked Florida in an elimination match at 11 a.m. ET. The game was initially scheduled for Tuesday, but inclement weather forced a postponement.

Kentucky (46-15) lost to No. 3 Texas A&M on Monday after a disastrous sixth inning. Aside from the five-run blowup, the Wildcats’ pitching was strong. It was their bats that fell silent, failing to get a hit until the seventh inning.

Nick Lopez, Ryan Waldschmidt, and Ryan Nicholson are all names to watch, as they’ve each hit over .300 this season. Nicholson leads the team with 23 home runs, including a solo shot in Monday’s loss.

Florida (35-29) survived Monday’s matchup vs. No. 10 NC State, keeping its season alive. The Gators had just four hits but won 5-4.

Jac Caglianone powered the Gators with a three-run home run in the second inning. Four of the team’s five runs came in the second, while the fifth came in the fifth off a Tyler Shelnut solo blast.

Florida is the only unseeded team in the 2024 Men’s College World Series. Their season comes down to this all-SEC matchup on Wednesday.
