Florida Gators quarterback DJ Lagway exited Saturday’s game against No. 2 Georgia on a cart after suffering a hamstring injury.

“He’s got a hamstring, pretty significant one, but he’s a tough kid and I can promise you one thing, this team will rally behind him for sure,” Florida head coach Billy Napier told ESPN’s Holly Rowe at halftime.

Lagway appeared to suffer the injury on a short run on 1st-and-10 with a little over five minutes remaining in the second quarter. The freshman quarterback was unable to place any weight on his leg before being carried to the cart with just over five minutes left in the second quarter.

Prior to his exit, Lagway completed 2-of-6 passes for 47 yards and one touchdown.

Lagway was named the starter after senior quarterback Graham Mertz suffered a torn ACL against Tennessee on Oct. 12.

Since taking over as the starter, Lagway has posted a 62.8 percent completion rate, accumulating 1,024 total yards while throwing five touchdowns and five interceptions.

After lying on the field for several minutes while being attended to by trainers, Lagway’s teammates joined him as the crowd chanted his name.
