Former Chelsea boss eyeing Man United role
Manchester United will be hoping to continue their good run of form when they face Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils have been inconsistent this season and suffered an early exit from the Champions League, but four successive Premier League wins have put them firmly in the hunt for a top four spot.
Manager Erik ten Hag appears to have shaken off rumours about his future by turning his side’s fortunes around, although the recent minority acquisition by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS could prompt further speculation about the Dutchman’s job security.
Now, it has emerged that a former Chelsea manager is keen on the idea of taking charge at Old Trafford.
According to BILD via The Express, Thomas Tuchel is keen to take over at United when he leaves Bayern Munich this summer.
Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich this summer
It was announced earlier this week that the German will depart Bavaria at the end of the current campaign, and the report claims that he is keen on the prospect of a Premier League return.
Tuchel joined Bayern in March 2023 and guided the club to the Bundesliga title during his first season in charge, with a win over Koln securing the trophy after Borussia Dortmund were held to a draw by Mainz.
Despite the arrival of striker Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotpsur last summer, this season started disastrously as Bayern lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.
Tuchel’s side are also currently eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, following a 3-0 defeat to Xabi Alonso’s side earlier this month.
While they remain in the Champions League, Bayern will have to overturn a first leg deficit if they are to progress past Lazio and into the quarter-finals of the competition.
During his time in London, Tuchel guided Chelsea to the Champions League, Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup, as well as reaching the finals of both domestic cups in 2022.
