France the latest addition as seven events already confirmed for 2025 T100 calendar
The Professional Triathletes Organisation (PTO) and World Triathlon have announced that France will be a new addition to next yearās T100 Triathlon World Tour calendar.
The news comes alongside confirmation that Singapore (12-13 April), San Francisco (31 May-1 June), London (2-3 August), Ibiza (27-28 September), Las Vegas (25-26 October) and Dubai (November) will all feature again as they have this year.
It means a marked step forward for the PTO after significant delays in unveiling the 2024 schedule at the start of this year.
That eventually settled at seven events, with T100 Miami kicking things off in March and an intended eighth āWorld Championshipā finale at the end of November being knocked off the calendar earlier this month.
The target for 2025 is 10 races and, with this announcement, that feels within reach.
Venue in France still TBC
The French Riviera T100 will take place in āa soon-to-be-announcedā location in the South of France over the weekend of 16-18 May, 2025 and include 100km races for the worldās leading female and male T100 professionals as well as a 100km triathlon for age groupers and a range of ancillary events that the PTO say will ācreate a festival of multisportā.
Welcoming the news, PTO CEO Sam Renouf said: āItās exciting to be able to share that the T100 Triathlon World Tour will be heading to the French Riviera next season and that weāre also able to advise on the dates for six of the other 2025 legs for both professionals and age groupers as we look to grow the series.
āWeāre delighted to be working with the French Triathlon Federation and local partners to stage what will be a formidable weekend of triathlon and multisport activities. The French Riviera presents a stunning backdrop and iconic location for our pros and amateur participants to enjoy as well as the fans watching around the world.ā
Laidlow welcomes home addition
Marisol Casado, World Triathlon President and IOC Member, added: āHaving hosted three stellar triathlon races as part of the Olympic Games in Paris over the summer and then 11 Para triathlon races during the Paralympics, this is the perfect time to be announcing that the T100 Triathlon World Tour will be heading to France next year.
āAs we plan the second season of our partnership with the PTO, weāre already working hard on ways in which the T100 series can complement our existing events and minimise clashes to create a sustainable calendar for the athletes.ā
Speaking on behalf of the current crop of T100 contracted athletes, Franceās Sam Laidlow, who won T100 London recently and is the reigning IRONMAN World Champion after his win in Nice 12 months ago, said: āItās encouraging to see the 2025 T100 Triathlon World Tour already starting to take shape.
āAnd having competed in Singapore and won in London this year, I know exactly what the weekends entail in terms of competitive racing, prize money, prestige, global media exposure and atmosphere. The series is a fantastic addition to our calendar and itās exciting to have a āhomeā race to look forward to at the start of next season.ā
